Presentation Evening

Put 1st September aside as this is the date of the annual Presentation Evening - a great night for each student and for you, their families, to show your support for your child/children and their chosen pastime. We will need quite a bit of backstage help to mount this performance which is a celebration of the love of dance all our students share. Please be sure to consider helping backstage if at all possible. Last year we very nearly had to cancel the evening due to the lack of support from parents. Following the evening we will be celebrating our sense of community and the success of our children at "Wyreena" - you will find an invitation on page 8 of this newsletter. This is a great opportunity for us all to get to know one another in a relaxed, pleasant environment.

Please reply by 20 August.

Ticketing For Presentation Evening

With just over 200 families in the school and a seating capacity of 430 at the Karralyka, distributing tickets for Presentation Evening will always present problems. Last year the evening was split into two performances and the number of tickets per family limited for the second performance. Unfortunately, there were many empty seats in that second half and the evening ran at a loss.

This year we're continuing with the two performances but also trying to gauge the actual demand for tickets for the evening. We hope this will help with the allocation this year as well as in planning for next year. The booking form for Presentation Evening is being distributed with the permission forms and you will need to fill it in and return it to the Studio, with your payment, by Tuesday 21st August. This will give us enough time to sort out how we need to allocate the tickets then distribute them.

What you need to do is indicate how many tickets you require so that everyone you'd like to attend can, then make your payment based on that number. In the example on the booking form of 2 parents, 2 siblings and 3 grandparents, the number of tickets required would be 7. For those who will be attending the 6pm to 8pm performance we'd also like an indication of the minimum number of tickets that would satisfy your needs. Again in the example, if demand for tickets is high and numbers limited, you would at least want tickets for 2 parents and two siblings, so the minimum would be 4.

Clearly, if the total number of tickets required is less than 430, everyone will get the number they want. If more than 430 tickets are required then we'll allocate fewer tickets to some families and they will receive a refund.

This year, mainly because of the time limitations, the seats will be allocated from the orders, but if the system works well we can revert to parents choosing their seats in future. Therefore, for this year at least, let us know if there are any circumstances which make it preferable to sit in some parts of the theatre (eg, mobility problems may require seats near an aisle or at the back, while vision issues might require a seat at the front).

As always, if you have any comments or suggestions, please get in touch.
